Eastern Gun & Supply Company started over 35 years ago on a small farm located in Falls Mills, Virginia. The idea of producing Wagner Shells came from Oscar Wagner, a man who had a vision of improving the quality of the turkeyshoot shell. Being an avid shooting match participant since the 1930's, he decided to try to make a consistent and quality shotgun shell that would perform very well. In 1965, he began to produce his own type of 2-2-10 shotgun shell. He sold his shells to the small surrounding communities near Falls Mills to people that shared in his passion for target shooting matches. He made his shells with a small hand loading machine. The process was slow and tedious, but it resulted in a quality shooting match shotgun shell.
In 1975, the business was moved from Falls Mills, Virginia to another small town, Rich Creek, Virginia. The purpose was to have a place to mass produce the shells in an automated environment. Today, the shells are still manufactured in Rich Creek. The process is much more efficient and faster due to the use of machine loading, rather than hand loading. The shells are produced in an assembly line fashion with the final step being packaging. The shells can then be purchased through our home company, Direct Sports, Inc. Eastern Gun and Supply is just the trade name for the ammunition end of the business.
The shells are manufactured and then distributed to shooting match operators or individuals who simply love to target shoot. When Oscar Wagner began producing "Wagner Shells," he only produced the 2-2-10. Since then, we have loaded other types such as Match - 10, Match - 9, and Match - 7 1/2 types. Today, the most popular type of shell that is produced is the 2-2-10. They seem to be the overall favorite for shooting match enthusiasts. This is the shell famed for "blowing holes"!!
